Les Chansons D'amour- plays wittily upon the familiar themes of the French New Wave. It is dark, endearing, funny, and heart-breaking- yet avoids the cliches associated with each of these adjectives. stylistically it is a masterpiece. this film also provides a genuine look at life in Paris- a feat rarely accomplished.
